If you have listened to Cruel Summer by G.O.O.D Music you would have come up across a song called Higher that has Pusha T, Ma$e, The-Dream and a group called Cocaine 80’s and if you have also listened to Life is Good by Nas you would have come up across a song called Where’s The Love where he features the very same group from above called Cocaine 80’s
So me being me I tried researching and getting the low down on the group so this is what Wikipedia gave me
“Cocaine 80’s is an American hip hop collective put together by record producer No I.D. in 2011. The group consists of Common, James Fauntleroy II, Kevin Randolph, Makeba Riddick, Rishiram and Jhené Aiko, among others. The group has collectively put together four full- length projects: The Pursuit EP (2011), Ghost Lady EP (2011), Express OG EP (2012) and The Flower of Life (2013).”
For me the two songs I mentioned above a good songs, in fact, great songs, so I thought since they have four full-length projects by themselves let me try to get some of their songs and I got two songs namely Anywhere But Here and Chain Glow where they feature Nas and that just encouraged me to get some more songs and I ended up having all of their EP’s and I have to say these guys are something different by the way I wouldn’t entirely say these guys are a Hip Hop group because the rapper in the group (Common) only raps on a couple of the songs in all of the EP’s and the beats are also not your typical Hip Hop beats they are more like a uhhhhm R&B, Soul, Acoustic group in fact I don’t know where to put them but then they do good music so try them out their songs are available on www. Cocaine80s.tumblr.com and then you can tell me on the comments what’s your favorite song and what you think about them as a whole.
