The Fight between Huawei, Samsung and Apple continues

What’s in the Tech News

In the last month or so the best Smartphone brands in the market have released some of their best phones to date. Some of the guys might be hamstrung by a certain president, but then that at times becomes a none factor, so let’s dig into those three brands and check out what they brought out to the fore.

The three brands that I am talking about are Apple, Samsung and Huawei who have released the latest iteration of their high-end phones with Apple bringing three (3) versions of their Apple iPhone, Samsung coming in with two (2) versions of their Samsung Note and lastly Huawei which also came out with two (2) versions or rather lets say 3 if we include the Porsche Design version of their Huawei Mate.

Let’s check out the devices and see what’s what and you will decide in the comments section of the blog, in terms of what’s your favourite device amongst the bunch load of device we’ve been dishes with.

Samsung Galaxy Note

Samsung Galaxy Note10 and Note10+

Firstly we will talk about the Samsung Note10 and the Note10+, which were the first devices to be launched just before IFA.

So looking at the features of both phones mentioned above we start with the fact that they come with an S Pen, the front-facing camera is a cut out instead of the notch or teardrop as we’ve seen in the past on certain phones. They both come with a fingerprint sensor inscreen. The Note10 comes with a triple camera setup whereas the Note10+ comes with a quad-camera setup that includes a thing they call a DepthVision as the fourth.

Apple iPhone

iPhone 11 Pro

Next up we got to see the three phones from Apple during the Apple Launch event and they are the Apple iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max so let’s go.

Looking at the phones at face value you should note that with this year’s iteration they went with a triple camera setup for the bigger devices, they slapped the Pro name on two their two better devices just like they normally do with the iPad and iMac devices. But unlike the iPad and the iMac they didn’t bring bigger processors when comparing the standard versions and the versions that come with that Pro name. We all know that Apple is superior when it comes to software and all they looked at doing every year is to make things better and guess what that’s what they did with this year’s devices and we shouldn’t forget that that camera setup also makes it a better camera phone when compared to previous versions.

Huawei Mate

Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro

Last on the list is the Chinese brand, Huawei which brought us their latest iteration of Huawei Mate series with the Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro and the Mate 30 RS which is the Mate 30 in Porsche Design.

Huawei Mate 30

  • OS = Android 10 (EMUI 10)

  • Processor =  HiSilicon Kirin 990

  • Front Camera = 32MP
  • Connectivity = Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0
  • Durability = IP68
  • Battery = 4500mAh
  • OS = Android 10 (EMUI 10)
  • Display = 6.53″ OLED; 1176 x 2400 pixels
  • Processor =  HiSilicon Kirin 990
  • RAM = 8GB
  • Storage = 256GB, NanoSD up to 256GB
  • Rear Camera = 40MP + 40MP + 8MP + 3D Depth Sensing Camera

With the Mate 30 Series, the guys at Huawei brought back the Edge design that we were used to getting from Samsung, with that they removed the physical buttons that you would normally get on the side and they replaced them with what’s a gesture that allows you to increase and reduce the volume by tapping on the side of the phone and then sliding up and down to do what you wanna do. Yes, they launched the device in Europe but there is a possibility that it might go there as they didn’t share a release date plus for some reason on my side I couldn’t get the specification for the RS version but it’s been said that it’s a Mate 30 Pro in a Porsche outfit.

Please note that with Samsung and Huawei you can get the 5G version whereas with iPhone there is nothing like that in their vocabulary.

If ever someone was to some, however, give you more than R30 000 to spend on a phone and nothing but a phone then i would suggest you go with what you know, for the guys on the iOs side of the pool then I suggest you stick to that and for those who are like me and are in the android side then I suggest you chill in the android side of things, I hear y’all ask there are two phones here which ones should I choose in that case use Samsung since it comes with the Google Service Package or whatever they call. If you are not into Samsung then you can still get the Huawei P30 Pro that was redone and comes with Android 10.
